These games ship a real Linux build — no Proton required. Protondex scores native and Proton separately, because “has a Linux port” and “runs best on Linux” aren’t the same thing: some native ports are excellent, while others are outdated and the Windows build under Proton is the better experience. Each game page shows both verdicts and which path the community recommends.

Start with the game page’s recommended path. When reports say the native build is current and well-maintained, it usually means lower overhead, no translation layer, and better battery life on handhelds. When a native port has fallen behind the Windows version (missing updates, broken multiplayer, older middleware), reports will recommend Proton instead — Steam lets you force this per game via Properties → Compatibility.
